Drawing upon this strong belief, we have been manufacturing 3- and 5-axis numerically-controlled machining centres for 40 years, offering our customers the utmost quality and reliability required in today’s highly competitive market. We recently installed a new machining centre on the premises of a leader in hand lay-up processes for composite materials, Camattini Meccanica (now Dallara Compositi), an Italian company set up in 1962 and acquired by the Dallara Group in 2014. To follow up on the installation of the new Belotti FLA 5526 twin-shuttle machining centre, we visited Mr Davide Seletti, Engineer and Managing Director of Camattini, to share the experience of our cooperation:

Belotti: What manufacturing requirements led you to purchase this machining centre?
Davide Seletti: The daily challenge we have to face is to offer top-quality products and the utmost reliability in meeting delivery deadlines. In the past two years, we have grown from mainly manufacturing for the car racing and defence sectors to a 50% turnover in the automotive sector. This break-through has somewhat changed our manufacturing technology requirements to meet the most diverse product features and customer demands, whereby we needed to adjust our machinery.

B: What is the reason for choosing to partner with Belotti? Which processing is the machining centre used for?
D.S.: Belotti was ideal to bridge the gap in our 5-axis machining centre base. Dallara Compositi does not only manufacture top-of-the-range motorsport and automotive frames but also components for the aeronautical industry. As a consequence, we needed a large-sized machining centre to meet our increased productivity requirements and this is why we chose the twin-shuttle model. We picked a Belotti machining centre from among the several possible solutions, as product features and precision perfectly met our requirements. When assessing a selection of machining centres the key factors for our choice were the speed and accuracy of your machinery. On the plus side, we also appreciated the great business relationship established with your company, as we both share the intention to strive for manufacturing excellence.

B: How would you consider our company and the product you purchased?
D.S.: I am pleased with our choice, which proved successful because the machining centre provided undeniable production advantages and was immediately integrated in the manufacturing process with no difficulties whatsoever.

B: What is your take on the future market developments for composite materials?
D.S.: I have a positive outlook. Our challenge will be more and more aimed at companies that may supply customers with a one-stop-shop service with integrated processes or a close-knitted, reliable supply chain. This is why I think that all the companies which are able to to supply finished or semi-finished products and offer customers quality, reliability and effective timing will be successful in the composite material sector. This is the prospective business trend and our new manufacturing facilities were crucial for us to reach high precision and productivity levels, fully meeting our expectations.
